Improved Sidebar Navigation and Sharing in 1.0.23

Projects 1.0.23  has these changes:

Reorganized Sidebar

Hey-hey! While our revolutionizing version of Projects is being baked (oops, spoilers!), we thought you would enjoy this cool news. The Projects and Areas sections do not live separately anymore. They got happily married and now you can see the whole family tree with all the nephews and grandmas at a glance.

The projects which are not associated with any area go first in the list and then the hierarchy of the areas with their sub-projects is displayed.

You will also find new more informative icons.  Areas now look like this:

The project with no tasks or all completed tasks is marked as empty folder, and the one with at least one open task looks like a filled folder.

It is also easy to add collaborators to a newly created project or area by clicking the + Share icon.

Use a contextual menu to perform all operations with the selected item and collapse/expand control to show and hide the details of existing list items.

What else?

Improvements always come together with some new wisdom and old issue corrections. Here are some revisits for the Attachment folders structure.

Starting from 1.0.23,  Projects creates an attachment folder with the same name as your project or area, instead of the old generic “New Project”.

Your selection of the default or custom folder will be saved now, no matter how many times you hesitantly switch between the options.

“My Drive” is an active folder now, so locating your Attachments within the folders structure has become even easier.

If you happen to delete your attachment folder (moved to the Trash in Drive), when selecting a folder in Projects, you will see that some attachment folders are in the Trash.

As you would expect, it is not possible to create a new folder in the Trash.

More fun and useful updates are just around the corner! Stay tuned

Folders Structure Enhancement in 1.0.22

Projects 1.0.22 includes this major update:

Improved Folders Structure

Summer is  a perfect time to relax, sit back and clean up your thoughts and drawers. Projects team also takes this opportunity to make some rearrangements for better.

Projects used to invade your Google Drive by creating the attachment folders for areas and projects directly to the root. So, after ten projects or so we imagine it was not easy to find anything in this dump.

From now on, we got more organized. There is just a folder added to the Drive by default. The sub-folders for new projects and areas are created under it automatically.

Please note, the Attachments folders are gone. All documents will be loaded directly to the project or area folder.

We do not limit the ability to select any location for the attached documents, though.

Be aware, we do not touch you current folders structure. So if you would like to move already existing folders under the “”, you have to do it manually

Another improvement is made for the cases when you happen to delete the folder with attachments completely, even from the Trash! In this situation, should you have a new artifact uploaded, a new project (or area) folder will be created under the “” automatically.

What’s next?

As mentioned earlier,  we work hard on the new awesome version of Projects.  For those who can’t wait to see it, a sneak peak of the new UI will be in our next posts!

Keep your documents organized and stay tuned!

Emails to Tasks and Enhanced Work Logging in 1.0.20

Projects 1.0.20 includes two major updates.

Work Logging

Remember the times when you could log work only for today? Those times are now officially over.

From now on, you can log work time not only for today, but also for any past day in the current month.

Are you making this management mistake?

Over coffee my colleague Kevin poured his troubles into my sympathetic ear.
He had received an email from his client and had promptly answered it.
Little did he know that the sales team had also received the letter and answered it as well! Not just answered it – their answer contradicted Kevin's!
The client, as you can well imagine, was really confused. So could they help him or not? The support team's answer told him in black and white that they'd be happy to help. The sales team, however, had a different answer for him – what he wanted simply couldn't be done!

Who's to blame here? What advice should I give Kevin? (I'm typing this as he's refilling his coffee cup)

Are you Julius Caesar?

Are you Julius Caesar?

Julius Caesar was a soldier, a politician, a strategist, an orator and an author. He could dictate four letters while riding on horseback and listening to his soldier's report.

In our world, that would equal typing four emails at the same time on your mobile phone while driving and listening to your secretary telling you the schedule for today.

Ever tried to type an email while someone is talking to you and found you have written out what they are saying? If yes, you've felt what havoc multitasking can wreak with your brain.

Are we all so multi-faceted?

Checkboxes and +Mentions in 1.0.19

Projects 1.0.19 is proud to present the following changes:

  • Now you can add checkboxes to the description of a task. If your task includes several sub-tasks, you can add them to the description by typing [-]. A completed checkbox will have the symbol [+].

When you put a check in a checkbox, it looks like this:

  • +Mentions will now automatically suggest work groups and your colleagues' names so that you don't have to type them. Autocompletion will do that for you!

  • The assignee picker now allows you to assign a task to a non-member of this project/area and share this project/area at the same time. If you assign a task to a person outside this project, Projects will ask the owner permission to share this project and assign this task to the chosen assignee.

  • There are lots of minor improvements in 1.0.19 to make your task management even more comfortable.
Go ahead and try those checkboxes right now!

Introducing notification center in 1.0.18

We wanted all important information and messages to reach you, so our team worked hard and came up with a notification center for Projects.

If you are +mentioned in any task or any activity happens in a task you own or are assigned to do, you will get a notification in the top right corner.

These notifications will stay in the notification center until you mark them as read.

All read notifications can be viewed by clicking on the Read/Unread button with the envelope.

Be sure tonotify your colleagues about notifications!
